BART will be hosting a community open house on Wednesday, July 20 at the El Cerrito Plaza station, from 4 to 6:30pm. The city is considering locating the new El Cerrito Library at the station. | El Cerrito Plaza BART Station development: In-person open house on July 20 RELEASE DATE: 07/11/2022 Hello all, We are excited to announce a community open house on Wednesday, July 20 at the El Cerrito Plaza BART Station from 4:00-6:30 PM, hosted by the development team of Holliday Development and Related California. The team will unveil their updated plans for transit-oriented development (TOD), including roughly 780 mixed-income homes, that will transform the station’s parking lots. These homes will be located so that future residents will find riding transit, walking, and biking more convenient than driving. The city is also considering locating the new El Cerrito library at the station. The team is seeking your feedback on these updated development concepts. Construction on the TOD is expected to begin in 2024. More information can be found at the developer’s website, https://www.elcerritoplazadevelopment.com/. Community members in the surrounding neighborhoods can learn about and provide feedback on upcoming transportation and parking changes and ideas in and around the station at this open house.BART and city staff will be on hand to discuss changes and ideas for riders getting to and from BART as part of the Berkeley-El Cerrito Corridor Access Plan. The open house will take place outside between Central Avenue and El Cerrito Plaza BART station’s northern fare gates.
