The El Cerrito Library Foundation was founded in 2011 by a group of community residents who were concerned about the future of the library. The Foundation believes that a great community library cannot be created with public funding alone, and that a great community library is a vital part of a thriving community. It provides a place for people to learn, connect with others, and explore their interests. Since then, the Foundation has worked to raise funds to support the current library’s programs and services, purchase new books and materials, and improve the library’s facilities. They also work to promote the library and its importance to the community.
You can help make the El Cerrito Library a vibrant and welcoming place for everyone by supporting the Foundation today. Learn more about the Foundation.

History of the Library
The El Cerrito Library was founded in 1913 and has undergone several expansions and renovations since then. It currently circulates over 200,000 items per year, but its space is limited and it is in need of an upgrade. The citizens of El Cerrito, the library staff, and the many volunteers who contribute their time are looking forward to the day when the library will have a larger and more modern facility.
