From Alison McKee, our County Librarian:
Dear Library Friends and the Foundation Board,
I have been listening to the Measure X Community Advisory Board meetings these last two Wednesday evenings. The discussions are rich and interesting. Next week (9/8) they will be discussing the Library funding ask and determine if it is a priority funding area to send on to the Board of Supervisors for their final consideration. Please consider listening in and, if you are inspired, speak during public comment in support of our proposal. As a refresher, the Library has asked for $22 million dollars annually so that all full-service libraries can be open 56 hours per week without any reliance on city funding.

Meetings start at 5pm and generally go until 7:30 or 8:00 pm.
Thank you!
Alison McKee
As the Foundation reported in a previous post, “The EC library could be open 56 hours per week!,” our County Librarian Alison McKee had presented a proposal to utilize some of the Measure X funds to provide for an increase in County provided hours of library operation countywide to 56 hours a week at each branch, at County expense.
The Foundation and Friends urge you to listen in on 9/8 and, if interested, speak during public comment in support of her request for $22 million dollars annually so that all full-service libraries can be open 56 hours per week without any reliance on city funding.
Please refer to the following link above to access the online meeting.
You can also submit your personal public comment in support of the County Librarian’s proposal by email ahead of the meeting. Personal comments to the Measure X Advisory Board need to be received before 5:00 pm on 9/6. The email should be sent to lisa.Driscoll@cao.cccounty.us
Please forward this notice to everyone whom you know.
Thanks, again, for your continued willingness to take action in support of our library and our great library staff.
