Save the date – April 13th!

Each year in April, the City of El Cerrito celebrates Earth Day with a morning of volunteerism and work parties, followed by our Volunteer Appreciation Lunch.

Earth Day – 2019 in El Cerrito is Saturday April 13th, from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm

On past Earth Days, individuals, families and groups of volunteers helped to spruce up the landscaping around the library, removed broom from Hillside Natural Area near the Recycling Center, cared for Cerrito Creek, distributed information about El Cerrito’s smoke-free policies to businesses, picked up litter, and helped to plant trees in Arlington Park.

The El Cerrito library Foundation is again hosting a work site at our library, 6510 Stockton Avenue, EC. Here are the projects we will be working on:

  • refreshing the mulch around the building, trees and shrubs, and along the sidewalks
  • picking up trash and other litter
  • light trimming of trees and shrubs
  • sprucing up and weeding the native plant garden on the west side of the library
  • potential light duty projects inside the library

Tools, materials, and water will be provided. Long pants and closed toe shoes or boots and gloves are recommended. Children under 18, need to bring a parent with them.

So, please SAVE – the – DATE, April 13, and plan to join us at the library at 9:00 am to help with our projects until 12:00 noon, then proceed to the Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane, for a healthy, free lunch and networking with other volunteers.
