Our summer plans

Hello everyone and happy summer!

Our outreach will be heating up this summer. Have you seen the flyer in the library? Stop by our booth at El Cerrito’s July 4th Festival, 10-6 at Cerrito Vista Park. We’ll be conducting an informal survey, and gathering suggestions on what community members would like in a new library facility. Look for us next to the Friends of the Library booth.

Also, we will launch the first of a number of public, community meetings in August. As soon as those dates are finalized, you will be the first to know! We’ll also be working on publicity for these meetings to maximize participation.

Finally, we are looking for a bilingual Chinese speaker to help us with very occasional small written translation projects. Please let us know if you can help!

You can always connect with us through email and the website, http://www.newelcerritolibrary.org

All the best from,

Stanislaus library backers cheer passage of Measure T

The library tax narrowly passed with 68.2 percent on its first try in 1995 and captured an impressive 81.1 percent when renewed in 1999, but support dropped to 71.9 percent in 2004. Measure T extends the tax five years beyond 2013.

This year’s campaign had fans in all corners and faced no organized opposition. Measure T signs seemed more numerous than any other this campaign season and many libraries appear to be as popular as ever.
